Colombia Day

Colombia took its first steps toward independence on July 20th, 1810, with a bold declaration that sparked a wider movement for freedom across Latin America.  While full independence from Spanish colonial rule would come years later, this date remains a national cornerstone in Colombian history.  This day celebrates the courage of a people who dared to envision sovereignty.

From the Andean peaks to the Caribbean shores, Colombia is a land of vibrant traditions, rich biodiversity, and resilient communities. Its music, dance, and storytelling reflect a national spirit that values both heritage and progress.  Independence Day in Colombia is marked with parades, cultural showcases, and deep expressions of pride.  July 20th honors the power of collective action, reminding Colombians that independence is not only a moment in time, but a legacy that continues to inspire.
